SCOPE OF THE JOB

We are looking to hire an Industrial Designer with panache and flair to capture the mood on the street in our ready-to-wear jewelry line. The Industrial Designer will keep an eye on the street, travel to shows, and read fashion magazines to spot trends and interpret specific color palettes, patterns, and prints for each season. You will sketch your designs by hand, create technical production drawings, and address buyers as a seasoned marketer.

To ensure success you will be able to spot trends, capture the spirit of the times in your creations, and display business acumen in your ability to apply product strategy. Ideal candidates have outstanding business acumen and are creative geniuses.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Manage new designs and fit styles while maintaining corporate standards for bulk production. 
• A capable Industrial Designer should understand the principles of design. In addition, they should be able to apply this knowledge to creating aesthetically pleasing and functional pieces. 
• The designer will work closely with a design team to develop ideas for new products based on research data
• Overseeing the production of designs, including carrying out fittings, determining prices, and managing marketing
• Maintaining relationships with vendors, suppliers, and models 
• Do the work to cost out all the components needed for production.
• Conduct market research to identify new trends, materials, and techniques, and seek design inspiration.
• Collaborate with team members to select seasonal themes, edit lines, and create new concepts.
• Ensure product and production agrees with business strategy.
• Oversee the production of sketches for development packages collaborating with technical designers to ensure development packages are accurate.
• Review products for style and fit during the presentation.
• Present story, mood, color boards, and samples to buyers.

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design or fine arts, or college degree in fashion design or related field.
• 7+ years of design experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator.
• Availability to travel for research and product development.
• Ability to do sketches by hand.
• Excellent design and conceptual skills.
• Excellent sense of style and color.
• Ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to multitask, and to effectively lead a team under tight deadlines.
• Bilingual—Spanish and English.
